We may earn a commission from our broadband comparison partner when you sign up, at no extra cost to you. It never affects how we rank deals. How we make money
How we rank
Best Value is our default order. For each deal we work out the total you are due to pay over the contract: the monthly price for every month of the minimum term, plus any price rise the provider has scheduled for that contract from the date it starts, plus any setup fee and any postage. If the provider has not supplied a charge, such as a setup fee or the pound amount of a price rise, we leave it out, rank the deal on the charges we know, and mark its total as incomplete with what it leaves out. We divide that total by the number of months to get an effective monthly cost, and list the lowest first. Rolling monthly deals have no fixed end, so we compare them over 12 months. A fixed pound rise dated on 1 April, on a contract of 24 months or longer, is counted again each later April in that term, unless that step is an introductory discount ending. When the provider did not send that later rise, the card says it is estimated. When the partner sends no rise at all, a fixed pound rise we have checked in that provider's own terms is included from the next 1 April, and the card says it is the provider's published price rise. If two deals come out the same, the faster download speed comes first, then the shorter contract.
Totals include known price rises. Some providers don't publish theirs, so check the deal's price rise note.
5G and 4G home broadband deals come after all wired deals in Best Value, whatever their price, because their speed depends on the mobile signal where you live. Within each group, the order above applies.
Rewards such as gift cards or bill credit are not counted in this order. Where a deal has one, we show it separately on the deal, so check the provider's terms for how to claim it.
You can also sort by Cheapest (lowest monthly price), Fastest or Shortest contract. Commission never affects the order.
